Well! At 2:18 the morning before we’re leaving we got the Fiat all bolted up and coolant bled. Citroen all sorted too. Sadly the Midget didn’t make it. Passed it’s MoT fine, but on the way up to ours to start the trip it started spluttering and wouldn’t run. Went to rescue it with the trailer, traced down the problem to intermittent spark caused by something in the distributor (spark plug in the ignition coil lead works fine but in a plug lead is intermittent).

Fiddled around a bit to no avail. Got halfway through fitting a Lumenition kit I had lying around but ran out of time :( so my mate’s borrowing my MGF instead.

But still! Fleet pic :)

I drove the (hydropneumatic NA diesel manual) Citroën, and will continue to for the rest of the week. It did exceptionally well, despite its modest power. Many small little issues that should be easy, quick and almost free to fix. Just needs a little time and love.

I somehow haven’t taken its picture though. Will solve that problem tomorrow.

Sadly I couldn’t persuade my client to pay for a trip to Wales, sounds like a lot of fun though.

The zero loss valves made it from the US, though. It occurs to me that you might be driving past/through North London on your way back from Wales, if you want to pick yours up. Otherwise I can post it for you.

It’s a shame you’re right out the other side of London or I’d ask to borrow your trailer for an hour or two :)

Did you get lost in Wales? :)

I still have that zero-loss adapter for you, been too busy to do anything about it.

I’ve been looking into a cheapskate’s version of the Mike Satur Hydragas refill valves, because basically all they are is a rivet nut and a schrader valve body that screws into it. Rivet nuts are cheap as fuck, I’m having a bit of trouble finding appropriate sized (Metric) valve bodies though.

If I can work out the last few details, we ought to be able to regas the suspension for a total cost - including tools&pump - of less than the Mike Satur valves alone.

Well, yes I did get lost in Wales a few times ;) even ended up in a field once! (there will be a post coming about that hopefully!).

However, I just haven’t had the time recently to hang around oppo til now :(

I like your thinking on the cut-price valve ;) how does the rivnut seal against the sphere? I’ll see what I can find for metric schrader valves too...

Heh, I know where you’re coming from, I’m either so busy there’s no time even to type a quick response, or too tired to bother.

Saw this on the MG forum, thought it sounded like your kind of thing: https://www.mgfregister.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=24237

I was wondering how Mike Satur makes the rivnut seal. Tempting to buy a set of his, have a look, and return them. AFAIK, though, it’s just what rivnuts do, you can buy some designed for pressure vessels.
